Here are a few things making my Monday a bit better.
This song: Twin Rivers by Big Scary.
Mighty Leaf Organic Mint Mélange Tea - I drank this non-stop one summer in London. When I drink it now, it can simultaneously incite dreams of Morocco and memories of the prim, whitewashed streets of South Kensington and Chelsea. Don't ask how my mind works.
This tea doesn't taste pepperminty at all (I'm not a huge fan of peppermint tea). Instead, it's probably the closest thing to brewing up fresh mint leaves (something that is also nostalgic for me, I used to pick mint leaves from the garden and my mom would help me brew it into tea with heaps of sugar). This kind of fresh mint tea is also really popular in Amsterdam, and I drank it a lot whilst on holiday with Mum there last year. Isn't interesting how taste can bring back the fondest memories?

I've been following Tavi Gevinson since I was barely a teenager and she was about aged 12 and running a quirky fashion blog. She's quit fashion blogging and moved on to bigger and better things, like high school - and being a bona fide social icon and editor-in-chief of Rookie Mag, an intelligent, offbeat, and wildly successful e-zine geared towards teenaged girls. This weekend I watched Tavi's talk at Sydney Opera House's Ideas at the House (it's long, but brilliant). I knew Tavi was a genius but didn't expect this talk to resonate with me as much as it did. There's some amazing philosophy in here:
Dreaming of my fast-approaching Easter holiday. I'll soon be reunited with ma famille in Tennessee (random-seeming, I know) at our much-loved, in-country getaway spot nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains - Blackberry Farm. Long story short, it's one of the top resorts in the US, and one of my favourite places in the world: peaceful, rustic, elegant, and fun. I'll be leaving my worries and packing the Barbour, some old jeans, and my wellies for a good old fashioned romp in the stunning countryside. Here's some photos of the place (procured from Google images) to whet your appetite - blog posts will follow in a couple weeks, get ready.
Jealous yet? Don't worry, I'll take you with me and share all the fresh mountain air with you. Virtually, that is.
I hope this brightened your Monday, even just a little bit!
