NYC Notes

You know that pesky thing called uni coursework? Yeah, that's been getting in the way of me gleaning exciting blogging material. I still have photos from California, but they're mostly of the ocean and I'm finding them wholly uninspiring to blog about and also kind of depressing (I'll end up blogging about them at some point). I promise I'll have some nice posts coming up soon… but for today I've dug through my treasure trove of photos to share some of my bite into the Big Apple…

One of the very familiar dining rooms in the penthouse suites at the Waldorf Astoria Towers.



A lovely view from the MoMA - one of my favourite museums in the city. I was obsessed with Monet as a young child and the MoMA houses two of his large waterlily works, plus a lot of other of my faves (including my favourite version of Van Gogh's Portrait of the Postman Joseph Roulin and Magritte's L'empire des lumières, II). Done deal.









Tea at Maison Kayser in the Flatiron District. This was some of the best English Breakfast tea I've had, and I think it's actually French. Better than PG Tips, better than Yorkshire Gold, better than Brooke Bond. Blasphemy? Maybe. True? Absolutely.

The Strand Bookstore, aka a book lover's paradise, packed full of new, used, rare, and out-of-print books.



The High Line: everyone loves it here, myself included.















The Time Warner Building at Columbus Circle. I'm obsessed. This building straddles midtown, the UES, and the west side, is just a skip away from the arts of Lincoln Centre, overlooks the park, is home to a massive Whole Foods, Per Se, and CNN. I want to live here. Apartments start at $22 mil.



At Christmastime, giant glass stars change colour with holiday music.





And why not, I'll throw in a couple photos of the Mashable Social Good Summit when I got to see Malala and her father speak, as well as Ambassador Samantha Power (idol), Al Gore, Melinda Gates, and Sir Richard Branson, just to name a few.







And a few from when I saw Bastille in concert at the Bowery. It was back in September, before they were too well known in the US, so the crowd was pretty small - which is what I prefer.
